If you’re picturing clear water, warm breezes, and the kind of diving that makes everyone in the family say “we should do this again,” you’re in the right place. At Phase 16A Bluewater Diving, we help families plan warm-water destination trips that feel exciting—not overwhelming.
Whether you’re traveling with a brand-new diver, a teen working toward the next certification, a confident buddy team, or a mixed group with snorkelers and beach-lovers, we’ll help you build a plan that matches your comfort level, your goals, and your timeline.
Our role is simple: we help you go from “we’d love to take a dive trip someday” to “we know where we’re going, what we need, and how to be ready.”
What we help you plan (and why it matters)
Warm-water dive travel sounds straightforward until you start asking the real questions: What certification level is enough? How many dives a day is realistic for kids (or tired parents)? What if someone isn’t certified yet? What do we do about gear, paperwork, and timing?
We help you sort the details so your trip fits your family—not the other way around. That usually includes:
- Choosing the right type of trip: resort-based diving, liveaboard-style intensity (if appropriate), easy shore dives, boat diving, or a blended “something for everyone” plan.
- Aligning the diving with your real goals: ocean confidence, beautiful reefs, seeing specific marine life, improving buoyancy, earning a certification, or simply having fun together.
- Setting expectations: what a typical dive day feels like, what “easy” vs. “challenging” conditions mean, and what to plan for if you have a mixed-experience group.
- Making sure the timeline works: training windows, readiness, and leaving room for rest days, travel days, and non-diving adventures.
The payoff is huge: when the planning matches your group, the trip feels smooth. Everyone enjoys the water more, and you spend less time troubleshooting and more time making memories.

What we need from you to start planning
You don’t need to arrive with a fully formed itinerary. But a few details help us give you good guidance right away.
Here’s what to bring to the conversation:
1) Who’s going (and what everyone wants out of the trip) Tell us the group size, approximate ages, and whether you’re traveling with non-divers or snorkelers. Then tell us what “success” looks like: maximum underwater time, easy reefs, family-friendly pace, a certification milestone, or a special occasion.
2) Certification status and experience level For each diver, it helps to know:
- current certification level
- when they last dove
- comfort level in open water (calm vs. current, boat entries, depth comfort)
If someone isn’t certified yet—or is nervous—we’ll talk through realistic pathways. Many families are in the “some divers / some not yet” stage, and that’s completely workable with the right plan.
3) Your timing and flexibility A date range (even a rough one) is perfect. If you have flexibility, we can also talk about how seasons can affect conditions like wind, visibility, water temperature, and marine life—without overcomplicating it.
4) Any must-haves or dealbreakers Examples: minimal travel legs, “no early mornings,” a strong snorkeling program, easy entries, private guides, or a destination that offers plenty to do topside.
5) Gear situation Let us know what you already own, what fits well, and what you’d rather not travel with. We can help you think through what’s worth bringing, what to rent, and how to avoid the classic “we packed everything and still forgot the important thing” problem.
Certifications, requirements, and travel readiness
Warm-water trips are a joy—but they still reward preparation. We’ll help you understand what you actually need (and what you don’t) before you go.
That can include:
- Certification planning: If someone needs a course or a refresher, we’ll help you map it to your travel date so you’re not rushing at the last minute.
- Experience-building: Sometimes the best pre-trip move is simply getting comfortable again—more water time, better buoyancy, smoother communication with your buddy.
- Documentation and basics: Dive operators may require proof of certification and medical questionnaires. We’ll point you in the right direction early so nothing becomes a week-of-travel surprise.
If you’re unsure whether your family is “ready,” that’s a normal place to start. Readiness isn’t about being fearless—it’s about being appropriately prepared for the conditions you’ll likely encounter.
Getting your family prepared (without turning it into homework)
The best warm-water trips feel effortless because the preparation happened quietly beforehand.
We’ll help you think through practical pieces like:
Comfort and confidence If someone is anxious, we can work on the fundamentals that reduce stress: buoyancy, mask skills, controlled descents, and calm breathing. Confidence changes everything—especially for young divers.
Pace and energy Families do best with a plan that includes recovery time. Even in warm water, multiple days of diving can be tiring. We’ll help you set a pace that keeps everyone happy and safe.
Buddy planning Who will dive with whom? Are you pairing a newer diver with a more experienced buddy? Do you need a guide for the group? Talking this through early helps prevent frustration once you arrive.
Travel-day choices that protect the trip Little decisions—like scheduling rest after arrival, staying hydrated, and keeping the first day simple—often make the difference between “we’re exhausted” and “we’re ready to dive.”
What to expect from us (and what happens next)
When you reach out, we’ll ask a few smart questions and help you shape a plan that fits your family’s experience level and goals. If you already have a destination in mind, we’ll work from there. If you don’t, we’ll help you narrow it down based on the kind of diving you want, your comfort level, and how you like to travel.
The next step is to contact us with:
- your rough travel window
- who’s traveling and who dives
- certifications/experience (even approximate)
- what you most want to see or do underwater
We’ll take it from there—and help you turn a warm-water idea into a trip your family will talk about for years.
Ready to start? Send us your trip window and your group details, and let’s plan something you’ll actually enjoy—above and below the surface.
