If you’re here, you’re probably picturing one of two things: your first breaths underwater—or your next big trip where you want the diving to be the best part of the whole itinerary. Either way, you’re in the right place.

At Phase 16A Bluewater Diving, we help you go from “I want to dive” to “I’m ready to dive”—with training in the Reno / Lake Tahoe area, guided warm-water trips, and the equipment support that makes everything feel simpler. Most importantly, we don’t treat you like a checkbox in a course roster. We take a consultation-led approach to planning your dive days so you know what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and what success looks like before you ever step into the water.

Start where you are: new diver, rusty diver, or always-diving diver

Some divers want a clean, beginner-friendly path. Others want to level up skills, expand depth and comfort, or simply get back in after time away. We’re built for all of it.

We’ll help you choose the right next step based on:

  • Your experience level (including “I’ve never done this” and “I haven’t been in years”)
  • Your goals (local lake comfort, travel readiness, advanced training, or just better control and calm)
  • Prerequisites and learning path (so you don’t waste time taking the wrong class at the wrong time)
  • Real-world conditions you’ll encounter—because diving isn’t just theory; it’s practice, preparation, and repetition

If you’re not sure what you need, perfect—that’s exactly what our planning-first style is for.

Scuba training in Reno & Lake Tahoe that actually sticks

Great training doesn’t just get you certified; it makes you feel capable. We focus on the stuff that matters once you’re off the platform and out of the “classroom bubble”: comfort in the water, clean fundamentals, smart decision-making, and the confidence to call a dive when something isn’t right.

Whether you’re starting from zero or continuing into more advanced training, we keep the progression clear. We’ll talk through what comes next, what you should practice between steps, and how to build competence without rushing.

Expect an approach that emphasizes:

  • Safety and good habits from day one
  • Small-group attention so you’re seen, coached, and supported
  • Practical skill development you’ll feel immediately on your very next dive
  • Before / during / after support—we’re not just there for the “official” moments

You should leave training feeling like you understand your equipment, your body, your limits, and your plan—not just that you completed requirements.

Warm-water guided dive trips (yes—those trips)

Local skills are powerful, but there’s nothing like warm-water visibility and a well-run trip where the only decision you need to make is: camera or no camera?

Our guided trips are designed to keep the experience fun and smooth while still keeping standards high. We help you prepare ahead of time so you show up ready: gear squared away, expectations aligned, and a realistic plan for your comfort and goals.

If you’ve ever felt like travel diving can be a little chaotic—different operators, unfamiliar setups, time pressure—we get it. Our goal is to make your trip feel organized and confidence-building, not stressful.

Rentals, gear support, and the “I don’t want to buy everything yet” plan

Gear can be exciting… and also overwhelming. We help you make smart choices at the right time, whether that means renting, getting set up gradually, or tuning what you already own so it fits and functions the way it should.

We’re happy to support you with:

  • Equipment rentals for training, local dives, or travel
  • Fit and setup guidance so your gear works with you, not against you
  • Practical recommendations based on your diving goals (not just what looks cool on a shelf)

If you’re new, we’ll keep it simple: start with comfort and essentials, build from there, and avoid expensive mistakes.

Plan a dive with us (our favorite way to start)

If you only do one thing after reading this page, do this: start a plan.

Our consultation-led “plan a dive” experience is how we connect the dots—training, gear, logistics, and conditions—into something you can actually execute with confidence. We’ll help you answer the questions that usually stall people out:

  • What’s the right next step for my experience level?
  • What do I need to practice to feel calm and in control?
  • What equipment do I truly need right now (and what can wait)?
  • How do I prepare for my next dive day so I’m not guessing?

You don’t need to have the perfect plan before you contact us. You just need the spark. We’ll help with the rest.

Ready when you are

Whether your goal is to get certified, return to the water, sharpen your skills, or join a warm-water trip, we’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with a clear next step.

Reach out to Phase 16A Bluewater Diving and tell us:

  1. your experience level,
  2. where you want to dive next (local or travel), and
  3. what you want to feel more confident about.

We’ll take it from there.
